Poems On The Road Omnibus

This is the omnibus edition of our Poems On The Road project that was in partnership with the Manchester Literature Festival.

The MLF commisioned 5 local poets – Shamshad Khan, Helen Clare, Suzanne Batty, Peter Kalu and Martin De Mello – to write poems based along the A6 corridor.

We took 5 new radio producers – Polly Atkinson, Garteh Davies, Jystyna Madeska, Johnny Duncan and Cathy Bolton – and trained them in radio production to record the poems in situ and interview the poets to find out more about the poems and the inspiration behind them.

These pieces were then brodcast on our weekday breakfast and drivetime shows at 8:30am and 5:30pm in the week between 9th and 13th May 2011. This omnibus edition brings all 5 pieces together.

This project was financed by the Community Media Association and Arts Council England.

For more information on the MLF please visit their website www.manchesterliteraturefestival.co.uk
