Camden Uncut
Cuts to public services across the UK are severe. But in Camden this week, it’s the changes to childcare that are making the most noise. A protest at the Town Hall on Wednesday the 23rd of Feb was followed by a “feminist bail-in” at Natwest bank on Saturday – organised by the protest group UK Uncut.
They transformed the Camden High Street branch into a creche to highlight how the money propping up the banks is being taken from front-line public services. CCRadio’s Harriet Bird joined the protest and heard how the cuts will affect Camden parents.

Lab Wars - St Pancras Development
The UK Centre for Medical Research and Innovation has submitted a planning application to build a biological research lab behind the British Library next to St Pancras station. The planning application has been opposed by some of the local community for several reasons, especially because it fails to provide the housing that had been earmarked for this site. Camden Community Radio’s Caron Bell and Harriet Bird met some leading figures from both sides of the debate. Objections to the scheme can be submitted to Camden Council up till the middle of November.

UK Online Funding Cuts - Camden Council Cutting the Roots of Community?
When users of UK Online services in Camden’s community centres went to tell Camden Council what they thought of proposals to cut their funding, the leader of the Council told them that he was doing them a favour in listening to them and that the Council would not change its mind. Listen here to some of what people have said. Use the comment button to leave your own comment. Click on the link to sign the online petition against cutting the funds for Camden’s UKonline centres.
