Voices from the Camden Demo against shut down of Parliament
On Saturday 31st August, hundreds of people gathered in Camden to protest at the proposal that parliament be shut down for 5 weeks, essentially to inhibit elected MPs from stopping a No-Deal Brexit. Hear extracts of what some of the speakers said. ...
Georgia Gould, Leader Camden Council introduced the speakers at the rally to #StopTheCoup #DefendOurDemocracy at Russell Square – part of a UK-wide series of demonstrations:
Camden Community Radio compiled clips from most of the speakers as well as short podcasts of individual speakers. Like Sava, we weren’t there early enough to catch everybody but we did hear

Interview with Jill Fraser: Parliamentary candidate for the Liberal Democrat Party in Holborn and St Pancras
Ten years ago Jill Fraser stood in the Holborn and St Pancras
constituency as the Lib Dem candidate. It was said she gave
Labour a bit of a scare. She’s back again with another attempt
to take the seat held for more than thirty years by Frank
Dobson, who’s retiring. She spoke to our reporter Ann Carroll
about her political beginnings, her determination to represent
the local community even if that puts her at odds with her
party, and fish and chips.
The full list of candidates is:
Natalie Bennett, Green Party
Will Blair, Conservative Party

What's On: week beginning 27th November 2010
Demonstrate at Camden Town Hall on Wednesday 1st December at 6pm. Camden Council is proposing to cut £27 million off services because of government funding cuts. This would mean cutting a lot of services that are very important to vulnerable groups of local residents. Camden has about £100 million in reserves. Some of this reserve should be used to continue to fund services that we know are important like luncheon clubs, youth clubs, drop in services for a further 12 months. Government cuts to rent support, fuel allowances, travel for disabled people and to other services will also hurt vulnerable people. Until we can see the impact of those cuts, we should keep other safety nets in place. DO THE RIGHT THING CAMDEN
