What's On: Week Beginning 23th October 2010
Saturday 23rd is anti-hate crime day at Trafalgar Square. On Sunday, Black History month continues at the City Lit with a performance of ‘Young Gifted and Black variety show’. All through half term week, the Haverstock Carnival Project is running creative activity to prepare for the Haverstock Carnival. On Wednesday, Camden Council is consulting residents living to the East of Camden High Street about the neighbourhood. On Thursday and Saturday there is more consultation at a ‘Shaping The Future of King’s Cross’ workshop. On Saturday 30th, Schools Out and the Drill Hall Youth Theatre have a unique practical workshop for teachers on tackling homophobia in schools. Lastly, on Saturday 30th October, anyone interested in getting involved with Camden Community Radio can come along to our drop in, 12 noon to 2pm.

What On: Beginning Saturday 16th October 2010
Marian, Martina and Tosh bring news of Roisin Conaty at the Etcetera Theatre tonight and a meeting on London’s Housing Crisis at the House of Commons on Monday evening. Also at the Etcetera Theatre on Monday 18th is ‘Walking The Wall: Extreme Rambling’ which charts a walk along the Israeli Separation Barrier. From Tuesday to Saturday, ‘Nina and Shaz’, which connects Nina Simone with today’s London, is on at the Drill Hall. On Wednesday, there is a demonstration against public sector cuts and on Thursday, don’t miss ‘Folk and Roots in the Cellar’ in St Pancras Way

Ethnic Minority Women Councillors Taskforce at Camden Town Hall
Taskforce member Meryl Ece, the first Turkish woman to be elected a Councillor, Camden resident Khadija H. Shireh of British Somali Community, Ngozi Chiejina of ‘Better Life for Women’ in Broadwater Farm, Tottenham. Francine Fernandez on a shadowing scheme for would be Councillors from Operation Black Vote. Sabrina Francis, a young woman concerned about Camden schools hopes to be elected next year. Pola Uddin, who became a Councillor in Tower Hamlets is now a member of the House of Lords talks with former Leader of Camden Council, Jane Roberts, about the realities of using power to achieve things that matter and the difficulties of getting people to move over and make way for under-represented sections of the population.
